Zigbi-Johnson

Art Facilitator

Savio Zigbi-Johnson is an artist born in the Bronx and raised  in Harlem, New York. An Artistic Noise alumni who was part of the 2018—19 Artistic Noise cohort, he navigates his creative journey through his found object art-practice, exploring the interchange between people and the environments they inhabit—whether natural, artificial or a combination of the two. Savio believes this interplay can lead  to a symbiosis with a healing capacity. Savio’s dedication to his art practice led to him receiving a presidential scholarship at School of Visual Arts where he completed his BFA with honors in 2024.

In Savio’s artistic practice, he explores themes of environmental renewal, afro-futurism  and science-fiction. He believes pondering these questions is critical to collective healing and to activate our collective power that is necessary in the face of systemic oppression today. He hopes that his practice, along with  meaningful contributions to his community, can inspire people appreciate their local ecosystems, as well as the larger ecosystem of planet earth. He now works  at Artistic Noise as a teaching assistant, and is happy to empower young people realize the potential of the art that they create.
