Renée Duran

Art Therapy Intern

Renée Duran is a visual artist and art therapy student who is passionate and dedicated to harnessing the power of creativity to facilitate healing and self-expression. She is currently finishing her last year in the School of Visual Arts MPS Art Therapy program and got her BA in Art History from Manhattan College. She focuses on community-based, trauma-informed art therapy practices and is continually growing to learn more about the psychological, emotional, and cultural dimensions of Art Therapy, enabling her to tailor her approach to the unique needs of each client. Her previous internship experience was at Boys Hope Girls Hope in Brooklyn, NY, working with adolescents in a community-based environment, and she was also involved in the SVA/Artistic Noise Mural Project collaboration in 2021-2022. These experiences showed once again just how impactful art therapy can be on a community. As the Art Therapy Intern this year, Renée hopes to be a support for the young people in the program and is excited to be joining the team once again.
