artistic noise: art from the juvenile detention system and beyond Two Different Lives
The Bronx Residential Center

The documentary film, Two Different Lives, was created by a group of young filmmakers at the Bronx Residential Center to address the question "How does growing up in the city environment affect teenagers and the choices they make, positive and negative?" By filming inside the Center and on city streets, interviewing staff members and each other, and creating audio recordings of their writings, the filmmakers have produced a statement about their urban environment and its impact on their community. Lauren Madow, a documentary filmmaker, was the Artist in Residence for this project.
